Google Ordered to Allow Third-Party App Stores for Android Users After Epic Win After Epic Games Lawsuit
Description
A U.S. judge has ordered Alphabet’s Google to overhaul its mobile app business to provide more options for Android users to download apps and pay for transactions, following a jury verdict favoring Epic Games. The ruling mandates Google to allow third-party app stores and payment methods for three years while prohibiting exclusive payments to device makers for preinstalling Google Play. Google plans to pause the verdict and is seeking a pause on the order pending the appeal. Alphabet shares fell over 2% after the ruling.
