Google Invests $400M in OpenAI Rival Anthropic
Description
Google ($GOOGL@US) has invested nearly $400 million in artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, which is testing a chatbot named Claude that rivals OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The deal allows Anthorpic to use Google’s cloud computing services and gives Google a stake in Anthropic. Founded in 2021 by former leaders of OpenAI, Anthropic released a limited test of Claude in January. It has not yet been released to the public, but Anthropic said it planned to expand access to the chatbot in the coming months.
