http://youtube.com/wilsontech1 ~ http://www.facebook.com/chrispirillo - Lamarr recently received the Google CR-48 laptop with the Google Chrome OS installed, courtesy of Google to review. His initial thoughts were that this laptop is the purest definition of what a "netbook" is; all is does is the web. There isn't a desktop or any other running software, simply Chrome.
With Wifi as Verizon's 3G network built in (100MB of data free per month for 2 years; not a bad deal!), this laptop will always keep you connected.
Lamarr noted that this OS and concept isn't for everyone. However, for someone like him who "lives in the browser," this is an innovative idea. It will not replace your desktop or your main laptop; it's not designed to. However, it is a great laptop to either have on the road, or on the living room table to browse while watching TV, etc.
Lamarr noted that it's a bit sluggish, which may either be the Atom processor or other hardware, or it could be a software issue that's easily fixed; after all; this is a beta product.
In a world where everyone is "app" crazy, a device like the Google CR-48 surely bucks the trend. Does it signal the end of apps and a renewal of the web in general? What do you think of the web only OS?
