Good Friday in Honduras

During Holy Week vacations in Central America, many people head for the beaches of the countryside, while religious celebrations are featured in cities and towns. Good Friday is commemorated with processions and colorful carpets made of sand and sawdust, combing the Catholic traditions of the Spanish colonizers and the cultures of indigenous people. This year's message, says one of the carpet makers is "following in the footsteps of Jesus." In Guatemala and Honduras especially, the celebration is a major tourist attraction.
