Contó con un remontaje extenso para adaptarlo al público occidental, además de incorporar nuevas escenas rodadas por R.J. Kizer y escritas por Tony Randel y Lisa tomei. Al igual que la original, narra cómo un periodista vuelve a enfrentarse de nuevo al monstruo Godzilla varias décadas después.
