Description

General Motors has recalled more than 23,000 Corvettes after reports of multiple vehicles spontaneously catching fire while refueling, according to The Wall Street Journal. The recall follows incidents posted by owners, including a viral video showing a 2024 Corvette exploding at a gas station in June. GM traced the issue to a cooling fan that can blow spilled fuel onto the engine even after the car is shut off. The automaker said malfunctioning gas pumps that fail to automatically stop appear to contribute to the problem. The affected Z06 and ZR1 models, which start above $100,000, are under a stop-sale order until a fix is available. GM plans to install a shield to divert spilled fuel, with parts expected in the coming weeks.
