GM Joins Tesla Charging Network
Description
General Motors (GM) ($GM@US) has partnered with Tesla ($TSLA@US) to utilize the latter's Supercharger Network. This collaboration comes shortly after Ford announced a similar agreement with Tesla to grant access to its charging network for Ford vehicles. GM CEO Mary Barra expressed that this collaboration is crucial in expanding fast-charging access for GM customers and could potentially contribute to establishing a unified charging standard in North America. Following the news, GM and Tesla's stock prices rose after-hours trading. GM drivers will be able to access the Tesla Supercharger Network starting in 2024, initially requiring an adapter before direct access becomes available with GM's anticipated EVs by 2025.
