Gisors is about an hour and a half drive maximum from Paris on both days. Public transportation is also an option. A long, interesting history at play here -- this city has had to reinvent itself numerous times. The Knights Templar occupied the castle here for two years. The enormous church is very interesting and bizarre, and the vibe in this place was curiously downbeat, but not at all in an unpleasant way, if that makes sense. It felt very "serious" here.
