Giant Insect Hatching From an Egg
5 Views • Oct 18, 2015
Description
Extatosoma tiaratum, also known as Spiny Leaf insects, are a species that are endemic to Australia. The uploader of this video was in the right place at the right time as she captured one of the giant specimens hatching from an egg in an ants’ nest. According to the uploader, Spiny Leaf eggs end up there because the ants mistake them for seeds and then, unable to eat them, simply leave them on the forest floor. Credit: YouTube/Lisa Donovan
