Gert Strydom - As if evil was creeping out

Early one morning
Heinrich, the six-year-old boy
gave a big scream
and came running out
op the bathroom.

There’s something in the loo
he said sacred
as if evil
was creeping out
of the sewerage system.

I went a to have a look
and behold a big healthy crab
were pinching with its claws
glaring with little eyes
into mine.
