Is chance the name that fools ascribe to fate,
or fate the name that they ascribe to chance?
You’d never get the answer from the late
lamented Fred Astaire, so let us dance
without distraction or preoccupation
about such problems, for which there aren’t answers,
and let us concentrate our minds on syncopation,
as gay as divorcees who’re ballroom dancers.

Fred Astaire said in 'The Gay Divorcée': that 'chance is the fool's name for fate.'
