Germany hit with snow
Description
Germans woke up to a blanket of white on Monday, after the unexpected, first major snowfall of the season.
In capital Berlin, the popular Brandenburg Gate was dusted with two inches or five centimeters of snow, troubling nearby workers setting up the stage for the New Year's Eve Party.
Some parts of the country received more than eight inches, or 20 centimeters.
While snow in December is not uncommon, Germans may not have long to appreciate their belated "White Christmas", as warmer temperatures and slight drizzle are predicted for New Year's Eve.
