German protesters slow nuke waste train

Police haul away a protester - one of dozens lying across a railway line in northern Germany.
The demonstrators are trying to stop a train returning nuclear waste that's been processed in France.
The locomotive, destined for a processing plant in the town of Gorleben, has been the focus of anti-nuclear protests for several days.
Activists are calling on Germany to halt the transport of nuclear waste, saying an accident could spark a country-wide disaster.
Most of the protests here have been peaceful, but in some areas, tracks have been damaged.
(SOUNDBITE) (German) POLICE SPOKESPERSON, HOLGER JURECZKO, SAYING:
"Some people have damaged parts of the tracks by taking gravel out from under the rails. It is very striking here, on this part the tracks were lifted by 20 centimetres, this is a very dangerous interference with the rail traffic and it is not acceptable."
About 3,500 people took part of in the protest over the shipment, one of a dozen that have shuttled between France and Germany carrying nuclear waste in recent years.
