German FM meets with Ukraine protesters
Description
On Wednesday night (December 4), thousands were still rallying at the Independence Square in Kiev.
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle met with some of the protesters, and told opposition leaders that the door to Europe "remains open" for Ukraine.
Westerwelle was accompanied by Ukrainian boxing champion Vladimir Klitschko, who leads the opposition with his brother Vitaly.
Protesters have condemned Yanukovich's decision to pull out of a trade deal with the European Union, in effect bringing Ukraine closer to Russia.
While unrest grips his country, Yanukovich has embarked on a three-day visit to China, where he is seeking investors.
