German court bans ritual circumcision

Germany's top Jewish leader has described a court ruling in Cologne that would make ritual circumcision for boys a criminal act as "outrageous". Initially a lower district court ruled on behalf of religious freedom and the right of parents to decide but on appeal a higher court gave precedence to a child's right not to be harmed.
