George Hunter - Inspiration

Now I lay me down to dream
Know I’ll wake up to a scream.
I have nightmares all the time
Funny that they’re all in rhyme.
These poems pop into my head
Whenever I am in my bed.
I have to write them down immediately
Or I’ll forget them so completely.
So I sit on the edge of my bed
Trying to remember what’s in my head.
And write it down fast
Because it won’t last.
And be lost forever instead.
But they won’t last to posterity
Because they’re not such a rarity
Only a limerick or a parody
Just a couple of rhymes
‘Bout good and bad times,
With a little bit of hilarity.
