Geneva University Hospitals

Founded in 1995, the Geneva University Hospitals, the HUG, have a three-fold mission:
First: to receive, treat and relieve the patient.
Second: to ensure the training of doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
Third: to develop research in association with the University.

The establishment serves both as a neighborhood hospital and a reference point for several highly specialized fields of medicine

7 days a week, the HUG provide for the needs of the population, placing the patient at the heart of its treatment facilities.
The medical relationship, a central feature of the treatment responsibility, is based on respect, trust and dialogue. These values can be found in the patient charter, a real commitment on the part of the hospitals to concentrate on the quality of their services.
The University Hospitals cover all areas of modern medicine and guarantee that everyone receives a specific course of treatment, based on multi-disciplinarian programmes, such as for osteoporosis, pain and obesity, which take into account each patient’s particular needs and situation.

The maternity unit is the largest in Switzerland with over 4,000 births per year. It is a reference centre for difficult pregnancies and deliveries in under 24 weeks.

Because nothing is possible without technology, the Hospitals invest in order to keep their equipment up to date.
They provide highly efficient technical facilities such as ultra modern operating theaters and medical scanning devices.

In association with the medical faculty, the Geneva University Hospitals undertake research which is widely recognized nationally and abroad.
