Gemma Nolan - Hiding The Truth

I sit here thinking,
What a mess I’ve become,
Haunting memories,
Of the bad things I’ve done,
Punishing myself,
When things go wrong,
I’m fed up of feeling;
That I don’t belong.

Whatever I do,
It never seems to go right,
So I stay up worrying,
Late every night,
I bottle up my problems,
Hope they might go away,
But sadly they return,
Every single day.

But I put on a fake smile,
Pretend everything’s fine,
I’m not going to get anywhere,
If I whinge and whine,
So when people ask,
‘Are you sure you’re ok? ’
I take a deep breath,
‘I’m happy’, I say.
