Geese upending to gather feed from pond

Domestic geese displaying upending behaviour - this is a feeding tactic employed by ducks and geese to feed from the bottom of a pond or other water body. The birds paddle and kick behind them to retain their position on the surface of the water body and to undo the effect the air sacs around their body which don't allow them to go under, per se!

While these are geese upending, according to Wikipedia:

"The word duck comes from Old English *dūce "diver", a derivative of the verb *dūcan "to duck, bend down low as if to get under something, or dive", because of the way many species in the dabbling duck group feed by upending; compare with Dutch duiken and German tauchen "to dive"."

The National Zoological Park (originally Delhi Zoo) is a 176-acre (71 ha) zoo near the Old Fort in Delhi, India. The zoo is home to about 1350 animals representing almost 130 species of animals and birds from around the world.

The zoo can be seen on foot or using a battery-operated vehicle which can be rented at the zoo. Visitors are not permitted to bring any food other than drinking water, but there is a canteen in the zoo.
