Gangubai Kathiwadi Gets A New Release Date

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial 'Gangubai Kathiwadi' gets a new release date, the film is slated to release on 25th February.

The Alia Bhatt starrer film was initially planned for global theatrical release on 11th September 2020, but the has been deferred multiple times due to the ongoing pandemic. The film will now finally have a world premiere at 72nd Berlin International Film Festival to be held from 10 to 20 February 2022, and will release theatrically on 25 February 2022 in Hindi and dubbed Telugu versions simultaneously.

The biographical crime drama is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada. It is adapted from a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Ganga Harjivandas, a simple girl of Kathiawad who had no choice but to embrace ways of destiny and swing it in her favour; the film shows how in no time she marks her own territory and turns Gangubai, a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura.

The film also features Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Bhargava Pahwa, Indira Tiwari and Varun Kapoor in supporting roles. Ajay Devgn, Huma Qureshi and Emraan Hashmi have special cameos.
