G. Silver - We romantics

We romantics should not be allowed to fall in love,
It is a most unhealthy and unbecoming thing,
And looks bad on almost anyone.

We silly fools should not even be let outside,
For we find passion anywhere, and all to readily,
And beauty is a privilege, not a right.

Oh, don't get me wrong, to but see your face
and throw mild expletives in your name
Is no ill-tempered pursuit in of itself,
But the moment I hang you up and say:
'This is mine! ' and pronounce that
'None before loved such that I do now'
Now that, that is absurd.

Sorry love, you are king no more,
My hand are no one's but mine sweet hands,
You may have your life back (and your heart) ,
Feel free to leave this angry place.
(But please do not mind, ex-sovereign,
Should I keep your crown,
For keeping and polishing it here
Is what has always brought me the very greatest of joy)

Do not feel any pressure to go far away,
It will do me good to see you every once and awhile.
