Cambodians' attention to soccer has recently escalated, thanks to the national soccer team. The Korean man who leads this team is, Lee Tae Hoon. Just half a year after he was assigned the head coach of Cambodian national soccer team, he led the team to success, defeating Laos and Malaysia in World Cup preliminaries, pulling up the FIFA ranking of Cambodia from around 170 to 150. Such achievements have raised the overall standards of Cambodian soccer teams, naturally drawing people's attention.
However, training the soccer team was not an easy process. When Lee first started coaching in Cambodia, potential soccer players were scarce and soccer players in the existing team lacked teamwork and patience. Lee even thought that these players were unsuitable for soccer, but he decided to train them step by step. As a result, these players started to understand the sport fully, became more open minded and more passionate. Lee feels very proud of his team, proud that the team members trust him, and proud that the team as a whole is improving on daily bases.
