Description
Jessica Bell now 24 was living her best life as a 14 year-old-girl when she was struck down with a condition called Mylagic Encaphalomyletis (ME) this condition is a chronic illness characterised by profound fatigue that doesn't improve with rest and can worsen after physical or mental activity.
Jessica’s Mum Janice like most mums had hopes and dreams for her daughter, but sadly, I didn’t think for one minute that her daughter’s beautiful dreams and ambitions would be cut short almost overnight.
Janice said :“One week our creative, energetic, capable, sociable, clever fourteen-year-old daughter was living her best life and the next, she was struck down by something that is invisible to the eye, but I can assure you that Jessica felt every single ounce of this condition called Mylagic Encaphalomyletis, which is better known as ME.
Jessica’s depleted energy levels and total lack of strength has meant that she needs a lot of help and support. Jessica has had her current power wheelchair for 10 years, from teen to adult but has outgrown the chair limiting her activities and experiences she can have.
This however is not stopping Jessica’s adventurous spirit as she is keen to explore and travel to places on her own. The family have done a lot of research and sought out professional advice for the best power wheelchair for Jessica. The Mybility DL a wheelchair which would allow Jessica to be more independent and explore she wishes to go to places like Bath but the cobbles currently make it a difficult task.
The wheelchair is not covered by the NHS so Janice has set up a fundraiser to raise £17,920 in order for Jessica to gain her independence. They have raised more than £5,000 so far to donate head to https://www.gofundme.com/f/jessicas-wheelchair-freedom
