From paperless to recognised: Five children receive IDs
Description
A single mother’s years-long struggle ended when five of her children, aged four to 11, finally received their birth certificates and MyKid cards from the National Registration Department on Thursday (Feb 12).
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail handed the documents to the family at their home and said the move marked a new beginning for the children’s future and dignity.
Saifuddin also revealed that about 1,000 late birth registrations are recorded nationwide each month, urging parents to register births promptly to avoid long-term implications on citizenship rights.
