Frederick J.B. Moore II - passing the torch

my sons and my daughters
I`ve become far too old
to carry the torch my parents placed in my hand
now i tell you as they did to me

beware the world
it is nothing like you think it is
evil stirs in everything alive
so encase yourself in a God fearing manor

my life will only ever burn far too short
when I die my spirit will live in your heart
honor my life and fear the lord
only then will this torch burn long and bright

my child if you love me
do not forsake me
stray from the evil thinly veiled to your eyes
enough evil will tempt you
without you looking for it

look for wisdom
and keep her with you
when you catch her
continue to seek her
for you will never know her well enough

my child
if you heed these words
which came from my father and his fathers before
nothing will be impossible for you
and this torch will burn
for all our sons and daughters
descent from you
