"Frankenstein" was filmed at Edison Studios. The work was written and directed by J. Searle Dawley. The film was the first motion picture adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The film was shot during a three day period in the Edison Studious in the Bronx section of New York City. Edison owned the company, but he had little to do with the creation of the works filmed there, and did not produce this film.
