After blasting the 'town-tamer' that was meant to travel to the town of Purgatory, gunfighter Tom Sabin (James Craig) takes his place and rides into Purgatory. The local townsfolk have employed a town-tamer to put a stop to the cattle-rustling and land-grabbing of Hoag (Paul Richards) and his wife Mary (Martha Vickers).
