Flu-Shot ‘Patch’ Is The Same Vaccine Without The Needle

Less than half of American adults</a> get the flu vaccine, even though the Centers for Disease Control consider it the best way to keep from getting sick. That might not be terribly surprising, since no one likes getting a shot. To change that, a new vaccine is working to deliver the same medication, without the pain.Researchers at Georgia Tech developed a flu-vaccine patch. Instead of one big needle, it has lots of microscopic needles. Patients just press it onto their skin and wait a few minutes for it deliver the medication, during which they reportedly don’t feel a thing.

Researchers have just conducted their first set of human trials and hope that the patch will increase vaccination rates — since the people who tried it out liked it a lot more than regular shots, and it’s easy enough to use that patients administered it to themselves.

Good news for people who hate needles and getting sick.
