Floodwaters kill 36 in China
Description
At least 36 people have died in flooding in the south-western province of Sichuan since the weekend, and 166 people are missing, Chinese state media has said.
In Sichuan's Wenchuan County, more than 200 people were stranded on Thursday after torrential floodwater caused a bridge to collapse.
They were rescued by fire fighters who fired a line across the yawning gap, allowing the people to swing to safety.
Official broadcaster CCTV showed amateur footage of four-storey buildings collapsing, as floodwaters swept through a mining organisation's factory in Shifang County of Sichuan Province on on Wednesday.
