Description

Heavy rains and flooding in Peru have left 11 people dead, since the rainy season started two months ago.
Residents in Tarapoto, northeast of Lima, were wading in waist-deep water or riding boats, trying to salvage belongings.
Hundreds of homes have been destroyed, and more than 30,000 people have been affected.
Landslides blocked roads and left buses stranded, affecting tourists in Cusco, a destination known for archaeological sites.
Some were forced to abandon their vehicles and walk instead, to get past debris.
Residents moved to safer ground, carrying their belongings across overflowing rivers.
The rains have been concentrated mostly in the country's southern region and some areas north of the capital.
The civil defence department said the heavy rainfall could continue into April and could put thousands more in peril.
