First verdict in Nirbhaya case today

In December last year, the entire nation took to streets after Nirbhaya was brutally gangraped in the capital. Since then, the demand for new and harsher laws is only growing louder with everyone demanding nothing less than the death sentence for the perpetrators of this heinous crime. Today in the very first verdict in this case, juvenile Justice Board is likely to deliver its verdict against the 17-year-old who is an accused in the case. The tussle over the accused's age and the punishment as per juvenile laws has created fury and anger with demands that he must be tried like an adult and face punishment only growing louder.
