Fiona ... - Wrong Beginning

Sweaty hands
Gripping tightly
One hundred keys on a ring
Thousands of doors either side
Heart beats faster
The tempo excels
Wipes beads of perspiration off a brow
Now walking,
Jogging
Shoes echo on cold concrete
Then suddenly,
STOP
Eyes gaze upon it
In front stands
A door,
An entrance
Yet not an ordinary door
But a rather small door,
Somewhat familiar
Fumbling keys
Ten attempts
And then,
Twist and click
Hand on doorknob
Go inside
Gut feeling like this is meant to be
Steps inside, but it’s all wrong
Confused,
Deranged
A l o n e
Empty and Dark
Want to go home,
Went the wrong way
Eyes dart to way back
Walls close in
Hands grip doorknob once again,
Locked
Reach for pocket,
No keys,
No way back
Waited so long,
This wrong beginning
