Why do I write, why do I try
Because it bursts inside me
And screams to come out
This pen burns my hands
Clutches at my heart with talons
That sting as they scar me

Why do I love, why do I try
Because my heart decides
Not me or my thoughts
A little romance is wonderful
Until you find yourself abandoned
Yet again you are alone and silent

Why do I live, why do I try
Because this path is not mine
It's chosen for my feet to walk
Each step is an adventure
Or a curse sometimes
Reluctant steps taken on it

Why do I think, why do I try
When they race around my head
In circles all the time smaller
Each memory getting blurred
Edges vanish leaving only half
Of the whole that used to be

Why do I care, why do I try
To hold out my hands
In friendships name
When only my all will do
Expectations rise and fall
Crushed with simple words
