There are various tax returns which may be required. The following are some of the returns.
1. Final return This is always required.
In addition to the final return there are other types of final returns which may be filed. There may be tax advantage if one or more of these returns are filed.
2. Any prior year returns not files
3. Trust and estate returns.
When are these returns required to be filed?
The final return is due either April 30 of the year following death or six months after the date of death. The trust return is normally for one year after date of death and is due 3 months after end of trust period.
