Here's what you'll need:

Box Cutter
Treats
Balls

We're going to cut a one-inch slit into your ball, so that we can insert a treat into the opening.

We will show the dog that the treat is inside the ball, so when we throw the ball, it will entice him to bring it back to you.

If your dog runs to the ball and doesn't come back, don't chase after him. Entice him to come back with a treat or an additional ball.
