Description
The FBI's newly released "Summary of Crime in the Nation" reports a 3% drop in violent crime and a 2.4% drop in property crime between 2022 and 2023. Murder rates fell by more than 11%, the largest drop in two decades. Preliminary data for 2024 suggests crime rates continue to decline. Property crimes like burglary were also down by about 7%, while motor vehicle theft saw a nearly 12% rise.
