Fay Slimm - Precious Heritage.
9 Views • Nov 08, 2014
Description
Granite, stone upon stone forming strong walls
Which, towering upward, bedded yet free
From mortared restraint, such masonry calls
Across century's changes clarion clear,
Of unchanging craftsmanship, yet striven
In order for mining, year after year
To continue, without charity given.
Sightseers now peer to decipher names
Amid stones which hold mem'ries of men
Who laboured at building these bastion frames
Now weathered, wind-beaten, not knowing when
An Enforcement will order these ancient stones down.
Car-parking is planned for this side of town.
