Fatal China bus fire a "criminal case"

A bus burns on an elevated highway in southeastern China during rush hour on Friday in a fire that killed 47 people.

But this was not an accident, according to local police who are investigating the incident as a "serious criminal case".

Police said on their official microblog that a supsect had been identified.

Thirty four people were injured in the blaze and taken to two hospitals in the city.

Buses have been targeted before in China

In 2009 a passenger ignited gasoline on a bus in southwestern Chengdu, and four years earlier someone set off a homemade bomb aboard a bus in southeastern China, wounding 31.
