To get out of it, he calls upon Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi) and Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare), two small-time crooks, to kidnap his wife Jean. He’ll then be able to split the ransom his rich father-in-law will pay to free his daughter with the abductors. But the plan quickly goes awry.
