Fake and bake lawn care

It's like a spray tan. For your lawn.

People in Southern California are resorting to paint to keep their gardens green after a lack of rain has left many of them yellow or brown.

Drew McLellan and his wife Deb founded the "Lucky Lawn" company which offers spraypainting services to restore lawns to look like their... ah... natural state.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DREW MCLELLAN, FOUNDER OF LUCKY LAWN, SAYING:

"100 percent non-toxic, once it's dry, animals, kids, the whole family can go out and enjoy the yard still..."

And it's good for your grass too. The paint actually protects the blades from UV rays.

City imposed restrictions prevent resident from watering their yards...but with Lucky lawn, that's not a problem.

"You don't have to water it as much with the drought and everything, we're all supposed to conserve water, this is a good idea, I turned a lot of neighbors onto it."
