While we may be living in the golden age of performance right now, there will always be a place in the hearts and minds of gearheads the world over for the classics.

The AC Cobra was the brainchild of Carroll Shelby, who took the gorgeous, lightweight body of the British-made AC Ace and stuffed a Ford V8 in the engine bay, thereby creating a legendary sports car that we still lust after some fifty years later.

While original Cobras command price tags well into seven figure territory, companies like Factory Five Racing offer replica kits which are much more accessible to the average pocketbook. And as you'll see in this video, they're almost indiscernible from the real thing in terms of aesthetics, mechanicals, performance and sound.

This particular example features Factory Five coilover suspension, a warmed-over 302ci motor that breathes through a great sounding set of full length headers, and a modern Ford Racing T5Z 5-speed manual transmission.
