Facebook To Notify Users If Articles Being Shared Are Outdated
Description
Facebook’s VP of Feed and Stories said the company is releasing a new app feature telling you if an article is outdated. According to Gizmodo, a notification will appear before sharing the content if the article is over 90 days old. Facebook’s internal research showed that “timeliness” is “an important piece of context.” The company believes the feature will help users make “informed decisions about what to share.” Politico reported in April 2020 that 40% of false COVID-19 related claims remained on Facebook.
