Exit poll points to hung Parliament
Description
Britain is heading for a hung Parliament with the Conservatives the largest party, according to an exit poll.
The BBC/ITV News/Sky News survey gives the Tories 307 seats, Labour 255 and the LibDems 59.
That leaves David Cameron 19 seats short of the overall majority he needs to propel him straight to Downing Street.
The poll, conducted at 130 polling stations and which surveyed more than 20,000 voters, suggests Britain is on course for its first hung parliament since 1974.
Exit polls from the last three elections correctly predicted the outcome, but they have not always been accurate. Exit polls in 1992 pointed to a hung parliament but the Conservatives in fact won a majority.
