Description

A 25-year-old Taiwanese man temporarily paralyzed himself by holding his breath while doing an extremely high number of sit-ups.

After two hours of intense exercise, his limbs froze. He couldn’t move and he even lost control of his bladder. What’s more, he remained conscious and alert, but unable to move, throughout his ordeal.

One of the dude’s friends later found him and took him to the hospital. After emergency surgery, this sit-up fanatic regained normal control of his body.

Doctors explained the reason this exercise lover suffered temporary paralysis is because he was holding his breath while doing sit-ups, which led to the collapse of a major blood vessel in his spine.

The blood pressed up against his nerves, causing paralysis. This is the first such case ever discovered in Taiwan but according to doctors, many people are doing sit-ups the wrong way.

The safe and correct way to do the exercise is to lie down on the floor, bend your knees and then put your hands on your head near your ears.

OK! Now sit up! But don’t hold your breath! Remember to breathe!
