To be known, to be understood
to still be wanted in that knowledge and truth
How does that feel? ... Is it good? ...
It must be real, this yearning grasps me in every mood.

To be heard, to be seen
to be held close through life and in my dreams
What is that like? ... Is it warm? ...
I think it happens, I read some words so long ago.

To be loved, to be forgiven
to be myself yet One with you this side of heaven
but I know better... it cannot be...
There is no room in your self-ish soul for me.

To be alone, to be without a home in
the heart and arms of him I know so well
I tell myself: it's all right... it's okay...
you've never known love any other way.
