ESSIE is an Australian singer/songwriter currently living on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Although she writes in a number of different styles, her latest songs are in the Blues/Rock or Rock genres which highlight not only her rough and edgy vocal style but also showcase her skills as an electric guitarist. Drawing on an exciting mix of influences from The Black Keys, through to U2, Gin Wigmore and even Adele, ESSIE produces a sound which is uniquely her own and delivers it with a confident stage presence. Based on the East coast of Australia, her shows are focussed in the Gold Coast and Brisbane area, but having been raised in WA she also plays occasional gigs for her home fans in Perth . As well as gigging, ESSIE is currently studying a Bachelor of Popular Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and has been enjoying great success in this, receiving an Academic Excellence Award for her first year of study. ESSIE has also placed in the finals of the Western Australian Music Industry song of the year competition for her category in 2006 and 2008. ESSIE recently released her first EP, Run Red, which features the single of the same name, in July 2013. ESSIE is currently playing plenty of shows in the Gold Coast and Brisbane area to support this release, as well as writing and recording new music to be released in the new year.
