I’ve wrapped myself in a blanket of lies
I’ve filled out a formal complaint made of cries
Pulled down the shades and averted my eyes
And purchased insurance against falling skies

But I can’t escape from freedom

I’ve joined every club and association
That will allow me admittance within
Then quit them because of the very sin
Of laxity for letting one like me in

I’ve layered my look and I’ve looked at my layers
And built walls of weaponry against naysayers
And I can out play the playing-est players
In Truth or Dare I’m the daring-est of darer

But I can’t escape from freedom

Freedom is falling
With nothing to hold
That’s where we’re all at
In case you weren’t told
Believing is clinging
Though there’s nothing there
Faith’s letting go
And you have to, so there

My masks they are many my walls they are thick
Self-deception a-plenty and a very large stick
For beating the demons I think that I see
In the house of mirrors that I’ve built around me
