Escalier Gustave Moreau

This beautiful spiral staircase is in the mansion in which Gustave Moreau lived, worked and set up a museum in tribute to his memories before he died. No doubt you know some of his more famous works of art, which have mythological, decadent, morbid, romantic, opulent and erotic themes.

Although it will be closed for the second half of 2013 for major renovations, this museum, near Trinité in Paris, is well worth a visit. Since I went on the first Sunday of the month, a "heritage day," admission was free.
