Description

ESR is defined as the rate of sedimentation of erythrocytes in a column of anticoagulated blood at certain time.
ESR is measured using wintrobe or westergreen method
sodium citrate is used as an anticoagulant
ESR is increased in inflammation and in cases associated with decreased RBCs count or size.
Decreased ESR occurs in cases associated with dehydration and hemoconcentration.
