Description

In the distance I hear thunder
And it’s calling out my name.
It doesn’t matter which way I run,
It will find me just the same.

Now I feel it moving closer
Than it ever has before,
And soon the old familiar fear
Is knocking at my door.

I look around to find a place
To hide myself away,
But realise if I’m to be free,
I must find the courage to stay.

My heart’s beating so fast now
I can’t feel it any more.
My body freezes and cold sweat oozes
From my every pore.

The thunder strikes me suddenly,
Shoots like lightning through my veins,
Runs around in all directions
Like a mad horse with no reins.

Its deafening confusion
Shakes right through me to the core.
It pounds and echoes in my head
Like an angry lion’s roar.

I’m trembling from head to toe,
My energy is depleted,
But I won’t give up, for this time
I refuse to be defeated.

As I take a few deep breaths
I feel my strength restore,
And the thunder loses its grip on me
When I break its deadly claw.

I finally feel free again
As my head begins to clear,
And all the other violent symptoms
Quickly disappear.

As the lightning leaps across the sky
And the rain continues to pour,
The thunder retreats to the distance
Knowing I have won the war.
